The story so far:

I purchased this truck in December of 03 because an old man hit and totaled my 92 Blazer,www.pghconsulting.net/blazer.

I knew that it had a bad CPI unit when I bought it, fortunatly I had an extra one sitting on the shelf. Easy fix right? Wrong!

I figured I would change the cap and rotor while I had the upper plenum off. Little did I know that I had dropped one of the cap screws down the #5 cylinder! So I go to start it, and it sounds like a bad machine gun! Sigh.

So I obtained a new engine, made sure it was good, and dropped it in with the help of Grappler and our friend Doug. All is well, right? Wrong!!!!

So now it's June of 04, Grappler finds a truck (91 Camina El) and since I have a hitch we drive to Ohio and pick it up. That little stress on that engine for 400 miles pretty much trashed my bearings. Fortunatly the wrecking yard I got my engine from warrantied it out. Got a new one with only 40k on it. I was once again happy. After confirming everything was ok with the engine we threw it in. As an added bonus we also threw in a new tranny. (also only had 40k on it).

So far it's been good, I beat the hell out of the motor daily and it chirps in second @ 3500 rpm. Life is good... I've purchased a 5.7 Vortec from a 99 Escalade and with the mods we plan on doing (With help from Ron at www.rcsoa.com) we should eek out between 300-320 HP Life will be better!.

Will have updates on the 5.7 swap when it happenes
